Issa Rae Acquires Stake in New Streaming Data Analytics Company

Issa Rae takes a stake in Streamlytics, a new analytics company that uses first-party media consumption data to bring transparency to what people are streaming on today’s most popular streaming services while helping consumers own their data in the process. Streamlytics is founded by Angela Benton, a technology pioneer and thought leader who ignited dialogue around diversity & inclusion before its mainstream focus by founding the industry’s first accelerator for minority tech entrepreneurs, NewME. Under her leadership the accelerator assisted minority entrepreneurs in raising over $47MM in venture capital funding.

User’s data ownership, privacy, and portability has been at the forefront of technology industry discussions and policy, with many consumers feeling that there is a lack of transparency among Internet companies terms of use and privacy policies. “With the overwhelming number of issues around data privacy as of late Streamlytics is excited to be at the forefront of helping consumers to actually own their data, and then decide if they want to monetize it. Streaming, in particular, is a rich, yet often overlooked area for user data privacy.” Benton said.
